January can make every product idea feel new again. I try to use that energy carefully. Before the roadmap fills up, I look for the few design questions that actually need attention.
The reset usually starts by removing stale assumptions. Some user needs changed. Some internal priorities changed. Some features never became as important as we expected.
I like to write the questions down before jumping into solutions. What are users still struggling to understand? Where are teams making too many exceptions? Which flows feel heavier than they should?
A good reset is not dramatic. It simply gives the team a cleaner set of choices for the year ahead.
